History of Craft beer
Craft beer is a small-scale, individually brewed beer produced using traditional and non-mechanized methods. Currently, the wave of craft beer is growing stronger and gaining the love of young people across Vietnam because of its delicious taste and health benefits.
Brewing has been around for thousands of years in Mesopotamia, however, craft beer has only existed for a few decades. Following the launch of All About Beer Magazine in 1979, American craft brewers and beer lovers led the transition and evolution of craft beer. This article will explain the history of craft beer and why it is one of the hottest trends right now.
America's First Craft Beer
Brewing was invented in ancient times with the cultivation of wheat and barley. The origins of modern craft beer in the United States can be traced back to the 1960s, when Fritz Maytag purchased the Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco, kicking off the craft beer revolution. He decided to use innovative brewing processes to increase the quality of beer. This led to the introduction of the handcrafted Anchor Porter in 1972, the Liberty Ale in 1975, and the Christmas Ale in 1975.
Why is craft beer so popular?
After the 1960s, thousands of American citizens began brewing beer at home. They mainly do this for personal consumption or there are people who have set up small businesses to make a profit.
After leaving the military, Jack McAuliffe established New Albion Brewery in California in 1976. During his tenure in the U.S. Military, he traveled the world tasting a variety of beers, increasing his enthusiasm for craft beer and propelling him on to create his own brewery.
Despite the fact that his firm only operated for six years, thousands of people were inspired by the quality of beer New Albion made and what Jack McAuliffe had accomplished, resulting in the establishment of dozens of tiny breweries one after the other.
In 1977, brewer Michael Jackson helped enlighten people and disseminate the word of craft beer. One of his best works is the book “The World Guide to Beers” which deals with a variety of beers.
The popularity of craft beer today
In recent years, craft beer accounts for nearly a quarter of the $111 billion beer market. Many craft beers have become popular and firmly established themselves in the American beer market. Today, sales of the four most popular beers in history (Coors Light, Bud Light, Budweiser, and Miller Lite) are declining and giving way to craft beer.
The most significant change brought about by craft beer is focusing on customer choice and providing them with many interesting options. Craft beer's popularity is due in part to the breweries' philosophical thinking, which encourages consumers to choose what they like and support smaller businesses rather than blindly following marketing. Instead of spending profits on many advertising activities of other companies, they encourage customers to focus on the quality of the product.
The allure of craft beer is the combination of attention to detail, creativity, and surprise because you never know which beer will become the next trend!
